About Me.

Myla S. Roundy is a student at Howard University, majoring in journalism and minoring in women's, gender and sexualities studies. 

​

She has a passion for advocacy and community work as well as intentional and accurate storytelling shown through her involvement as the investigative section editor for The Hilltop, the director of communications for Brown Kids Read and the chartering president of Big Sister Little Sister Mentoring Program at Howard, amongst many other organizations and commitments. 

​

Myla plans to pursue a career in investigative journalism, focusing on local accountability reporting and would eventually like to join academia. 

​

Some of her achievements include being an inaugural cohort member of the Du Bois Data Lab with the Center for Journalism and Democracy, launching her own blog, Myla’s Muse, and interning at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. â€‹

With a passion for service and community storytelling, Myla S. Roundy is a significant impact leader of her generation.

  • Organized two Juvenile Justice Youth Summits in Tacoma, Washington with featured workshops on self-care, mental and physical health, and strategic sharing

  • Shared policy recommendations with staff at the White House and the Administrator of the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention

  • Created a cumulative presentation and produced a video summarizing main points, highlighting key insights, and giving recommendations for United Way of Central Indiana's future volunteer center
